The Easter Morning SUNRISE (SONRISE) Service – What is it?

It’s a way of welcoming Easter Sunday morning and celebrating the resurrection as followers of Jesus in 2010.

Last year we gathered at Greenbank car park as dawn was breaking. Folk came by foot, by bicycle, or by car, well wrapped up & with a deck chair if preferred. The reward of making the effort to get up early and in the silence listen to the world coming to life and hearing the gospel account of that first Easter morning is quite special. We sang, we prayed, we watched the light creep up, the sun emerge and symbolically we each placed spring flowers to cover the thorn wreath on the cross and now make it a thing of beauty. It’s a very simple, short act of worship to encourage you to come, and because the clocks have only just sprung forward, it will be at 7am this year. A very warm welcome to everyone and an invitation also to a hearty cooked breakfast afterwards.

EASTER. - New for this year.

Worshippers at the 11am Family Service will be invited to bring along a spring bulb to plant in the church grounds following the service and the Children’s Easter Egg Hunt. You may wish to plant a flower in memory of someone, in celebration of a new birth or simply to remember the hope of new life that Easter time brings.
